참돔 bookmark_add Pagrus major (Temminck and Schlegel, 1843)

몸길이가 90cm가량 나가는 바닷물고기이다. 몸은 적갈색이며 배는 은백색을 띤다. 몸의 상반부에 광택을 띠는 파란 점이 산재한다. 어릴 때에는 연안 얕은 곳에서 생활하다가 2~3년 자란 뒤에 수심 30~200m인 곳으로 이동한다. 갑각류, 어류, 다모류 등을 먹고 살며 산란은 5~7월경에 한다. 우리나라 전 해역에 서식하며, 일본 홋카이도 이남, 타이완, 남중국해 등에 분포한다. 봄부터 가을까지 잡힌다. 회, 구이, 조림, 건어물, 찜, 찌개 등 다양한 요리에 이용하는 고급 어종으로 양식도 많이 한다. 참도미, 돔, 진도미어, 붉은도미라고도 부르며 미성어 시기에는 상사리라고도 한다. 체색은 서식지에 따라 변이가 심해 자연산과 양식산을 구분하기가 어렵다.
