삼백초는 삼백초속의 수생 여러해살이풀로 「멸종위기 야생생물 Ⅱ급」 식물이다. 6~8월경에 흰색 꽃을 피우며, 남부지방과 울릉도에 야생 상태로 퍼져 있는 약모밀에 비해서 키가 크고 꽃차례는 더욱 길며 고약한 냄새가 나지 않으므로 서로 구분된다. 중국산 삼백초를 들여와 재배하기도 한다. 현재 한국적색목록에 멸종위기범주인 위기종(EN)으로 평가되어 있다. [저작재산권자]
