암건조물 주변이나 옥내에 구조가 조악한 그물을 치고 서식한다. 암컷 10.0mm 내외, 수컷 8.0mm 내외. 배갑은 폭보다 길이가 길고 편평하며 황갈색으로 머리구역은 가슴구역보다 현저히 좁고 색이 짙다. 6개의 눈은 흰색으로 2개씩 3무리로 배열된다. 가운데홈은 세로 방향의 바늘 모양으로 뚜렷하다. 위턱은 적갈색으로 뒤엄니두덩에 흰색의 널판돌기가 있고 옆혹은 없다. 가슴판은 황갈색이다. 배는 황백색의 긴 타원형으로 특별한 무늬는 없고 황백색의 털이 밀생한다. 수컷은 암컷보다 몸집이 작으나 체색이 짙고 다리는 가늘고 길게 발달한다. 제주특별자치도에 분포하며, 세계적으로는 러시아, 중국, 일본, 미국 등지에 널리 분포한다.
