(북한명) 흰우릉성이
식용을 목적으로 도입된 종으로 경남지역에서 양식된다. 몸의 길이는 약 20~40mm이며, 둥글고 굵은 돌기가 발달해 있다. 특히 외피가 두꺼운 것이 특징이다. 우리나라는 남해안과 동해 남부에 분포하며, 일본을 비롯하여 전 세계적인 분포를 보이는 온대성 종이다. 자연암반에는 거의 없고 주로 양식장이나 항만의 구조물이나 로프에 무리 지어 달라붙는다. [저작재산권자]

우리나라에는 양식을 위해 종패를 들여온 종으로 해양 외래유입종(marine invasive species)에 속한다. 주로 항만의 안벽과 항만과 양식장 주변의 로프, 부이 등에 무리를 지어 달라붙는데 아직까지 자연암반으로는 확산되지 않았다. [1]
