분류체계
산야에서 흔히 자라는 낙엽 덩굴성 나무로 길이 3~8m 정도로 뻗는다. 어린가지에 잔털이 있다. 잎은 마주나며 3출잎 간혹 2회 3출겹잎이다. 작은잎은 난형 또는 난상 피침형으로 끝이 뾰족하다. 잎 길이는 4~7cm이다. 잎 가장자리에 깊이 파인 톱니가 드문드문 있다. 잎 앞면에 처음에는 털이 있으나 점차 없어진다. 뒷면에는 맥 위에 잔털이 있다. 꽃은 7~9월 흰색으로 피는데 지름 13~25mm로서 잎겨드랑이에 취산상 원추꽃차례로 달린다. 꽃받침 조각은 넓은 피침형이며 4개가 십자 모양으로 달린다. 꽃잎은 없으며 수술과 암술은 많다. 꽃받침잎은 피침상 도란형, 길이 7~10mm, 백색이고, 표면에 잔털 있다. 열매는 삭과로 5~10개씩 모여 달리고 털이 있다. 우리나라 거의 전역에 나며 일본, 중국 등에 분포한다. 꽃은 줄기와 잎 사이에서 나오고 꽃차례당 5~10여 개씩 흰색으로 피는 점에서 3개씩 붙는 할미밀망과 구별된다. 어린잎을 식용한다.
