Rattus rattus (Linnaeus, 1758) (애급쥐)
집쥐속에 속하는 설치류이다. 머리와 몸통 길이 146~240mm, 꼬리 길이 150~260mm, 뒷발 길이 28.5-35.0mm, 귀 길이 21-27mm, 몸무게 200g 이하이다. 꼬리는 몸통 길이보다 더 길다. 귀와 등은 갈색, 배는 옅은 황갈색이거나 누런색을 띤다. 시력은 미약하고 색맹이나 후각, 미각, 청각, 촉각은 매우 발달하였다. 잡식성으로 주로 과일, 견과류, 콩, 야채를 먹는다. 아시아 전역에 널리 분포한다. 한 배에 5-7마리 새끼를 낳는다. 수명은 야외에서 1-2년이다. 동양집쥐라고도 한다. [저작재산권자]
