Enteromorpha compressa Nees 1820
엽체는 직립하고, 연녹색 내지는 선녹색이며, 기다란 일자형 내지 쐐기꼴이고, 두 겹의 세포층이 보통 압착되어 있고, 편평하거나 나선상으로 꼬이며, 조간대 바위에 모여나고, 점상의 부착기로 착생하며 얇은 원주상 기부를 가지고, 상부로 갈수록 조금 넓어져 선상이고, 드물게 분지하며 나선상으로 꼬이는 경우도 있고, 길이는 20~30cm, 폭은 0.3~0.7cm가량이다. 세포는 불규칙하게 배열하고 세포벽이 두껍고 다각형이며, 직경이 15~20μm이며, 한 개의 엽록체와 한 개 내지 여러 개의 피레노이드를 가진다. 연중 내내 관찰되나 특히 봄에 많이 볼 수 있다. 이 종은 기부에서 원주상이지만 곧 압착되고 나선상으로 꼬이며 세포의 모서리가 다각형으로 뚜렷하게 나 있으므로 창자파래와 구별된다. 한반도 전 연안, 주로 조간대에 서식하며 전 세계에 분포한다.
