Musca stercoraria Linnaeus, 1758
숲이 우거진 산에 서식하는 곤충이다. 몸길이는 19mm 정도이다. 몸 빛깔은 누렇다. 머리 양쪽의 겹눈은 갈색이며, 이마는 오렌지색을 띤다. 더듬이는 짧고, 더듬이털은 채찍 모양이다. 가슴등판 양쪽은 짙은 색을 띠고 등줄 가운데 센털과 날개 가두리 센털은 검고 길게 뻗어 있다. 넓적다리마디는 몸과 같이 누른빛에 노란 털이 많고, 종아리마디와 발목마디는 연한 황갈색을 띤다. 날개맥은 황갈색이고, 날개 기부가 연한 누른빛을 띤다. 배는 6마디로 구분되고, 각 마디의 끝 쪽 가장자리에 짧은 노란색 털이 세로로 배열되어 띠를 두른 것 같다. 배 전체에는 연약하고 긴 노란색 털이 많다. 이른 봄과 초가을에 많이 발견되며, 6월에 산란한다. 애벌레는 가축이나 사람 똥, 퇴비에서 발생한다. 어른벌레는 포식성으로 작은 곤충의 체액을 빨아먹는다. 전국에 서식하며, 세계에 널리 분포한다.
