껍질 길이 76.6mm, 높이 60.6mm 정도이다. 형태는 앞뒤로 다소 긴 삼각형이며 각질은 얇다. 각정은 껍질 중앙에 위치한다. 짙은 황색 명주실 같은 각피로 덮여 있는데 쉽게 마모되며 촘촘한 성장맥이 규칙적으로 나타난다. 앞, 뒤쪽 등선이 직선상이며 넓고 평탄하다. 껍질 안쪽 면은 옅은 황백색이고 각정 부분은 보라색을 띤다. 수심 20m 근방의 모래밭에 서식한다. 우리나라 서해 남부 연안과 일본, 중국, 호주 연안에 분포한다. [저작재산권자]
