Venus lusoria Röding, 1798

패각은 길이 85mm, 높이 65mm로 둥근 아삼각형이다. 표면은 매끈하고 광택이 나며 갈색을 띤다. 개체마다 색채와 무늬의 변이가 있다. 각정은 앞쪽으로 약간 치우쳐 있고 인대는 크게 발달하지 않는다. 패각 뒤쪽 등 면에 약한 능각이 나타난다. 내면은 백색이고 전·후폐각근흔과 외투선흔 부분에는 강한 광택이 나타난다. 외투선 만입은 얕다. 교판이 넓고 2개의 주치와 전·후측치가 있다. 말백합(<I>M. petechialis</I>)에 비하여 각폭이 좁고 패각 뒤쪽 등선이 직선상이고 뒤쪽 등선과 뒤쪽 배선의 경계 부분이 뾰족한 편이다. 조간대에서 수심 20m의 모래, 진흙 바닥에 서식한다. 우리나라 충남, 전남 연안, 세계적으로는 일본, 중국 등에 분포한다. 수산 식량 자원과 수집 및 관상용으로 가치가 있다.
