흰오징어
오징어과에서 가장 큰 종이다. 외투막은 원추형이며 끝은 무딘 편이다. 참갑오징어와 달리 외투막 속에 껍질(연갑)이 거의 발달하지 않아 얇고 투명한 껍질로 되어 있다. 우리나라에서는 무늬오징어로 잘 알려져 있다. 대형종으로 큰 것은 500mm 정도이며 제주도에서 낚시로 많이 잡는다. 일본어로 아오리이카이며 미즈이카로 흔히 부른다. 우리나라에서는 제주도, 남해, 동해, 서해 남부에 분포하며, 일본에서 남태평양까지 분포하는 난류성 종이다. [저작재산권자]

난류성 종으로서 예전에는 제주도에서만 잡혔으나 최근에는 남해안, 동해안, 서해안 등에서도 나타난다. 산란기는 봄~여름철로 얕은 수심으로 올라와 해조류 군락이나 바위틈에 알을 붙인다. 알은 가을에 부화하며, 다음해 봄철까지 성장하여 성체가 된다. 수명은 보통 1년이며 산란을 마친 어미는 죽는 것으로 알려져 있다. [1]
