Hypnum ctenium Schimp. ex Besch.
식물체는 큰 편이며 황록색~녹갈색이고 윤기가 없다. 줄기는 길이 10cm 이하로 길게 기면서 자라고 규칙적으로 가지가 깃 모양으로 갈라진다. 가지는 수평 또는 경사지며 밑부분은 갈색이다. 줄기잎은 길이 1.5~3.0mm이고 난형이며 끝부분은 낫 모양으로 굽어져 있고 기부는 염통 모양이다. 잎끝의 가장자리에는 작은 치돌기가 있으며, 잎맥은 2개로 갈라지고 짧거나 불확실하다. 가지잎은 줄기잎과 비슷하지만 길이 1.4~2.0mm로 보다 짧다. 암수딴그루이다. 포자체는 잘 생기지 않는다. 삭은 굽으며 비상칭이고 수평으로 붙는다. 삭병은 길이 30~50mm로 긴 편이다. 산야의 햇볕이 잘 드는 바위 및 땅 위에 매트 모양으로 모여 자란다. 무덤이나 도시의 잔디밭에서도 흔히 관찰된다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 세계적으로는 중국, 일본, 타이완, 동남아시아, 인도, 러시아(동부), 하와이 등에 분포한다.
