생물종 상세정보
뱀장어목 붕장어과에 속하는 어류이다. 몸길이가 90cm 이상으로 자라며, 몸은 원통형으로 가늘고 길다. 머리부터 꼬리까지 하얀 측선 구멍이 있으며 배지느러미는 없다. 연안의 모래 지역에 서식하고, 주로 저서성 무척추동물을 먹고 살며 야간에 활동한다. 일본 남부에서 4~5월경 산란하며, 부화하면 뱀장어처럼 대나무 잎 형태의 유생으로 해류를 타고 우리나라 연안으로 이동하며 변태한다. 우리나라 전 해역에 출현하며, 일본 홋카이도 이남, 동중국해 등에도 분포한다. [저작재산권자]
