양태 bookmark_add Platycephalus indicus (Linnaeus, 1758)

몸길이가 50cm가량인 바닷물고기이다. 몸은 상하로 납작하고 길다. 등지느러미 가장 앞쪽의 극조(棘條, 지느러미를 이루고 있는 단단하고 끝이 날카로운 지느러미 살) 2개는 매우 작다. 등은 연한 갈색에 진한 흑갈색 점들이 흩어져 있다. 연근해 정착성 어류로서 모래 진흙 바닥에 주로 서식하며, 기수역에서도 서식한다. 산란은 5~7월에 연안의 얕은 바다 모랫바닥에 한다. 우리나라 서해와 제주도를 포함한 남해에 서식한다. 일본 중부 이남, 타이완, 오스트레일리아, 인도양 등에도 분포한다. 연중 잡힌다. 회, 소금구이, 찜, 조림, 지리, 건어물로 이용하는 고급 어류이다. 탄력과 단맛이 좋아 특히 여름철에 회로 먹는다. 장대, 장태, 낭태 등으로도 부른다.
