분류체계
몸길이가 60cm가량인 바닷물고기이다. 앞쪽 아가미덮개에는 가시가 없고 다갈색 바탕에 7개의 흑갈색 무늬가 비스듬하게 있다. 연안의 바위지역에 서식하며 주로 밤에만 움직인다. 오징어류나 작은 어류를 잡아먹으며 산란은 8~10월에 한다. 제주도를 포함한 남해에 서식하며, 일본 남부, 중국, 필리핀, 인도 등지에 분포한다. 회, 탕, 구이 등으로 이용하며 버리는 부분이 없이 내장부터 뼈, 눈알까지 전부 먹을 수 있는 최고급 어종이다. [저작재산권자]
