Acetosa acetosella Mill.
마디풀목 마디풀과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 길가, 황무지, 경작지 주변 및 숲 가장자리의 빈터에 흔하게 자라는 여러해살이풀이다. 땅속줄기가 뻗으면서 번식한다. 줄기는 높이 20~50cm, 세로로 능선이 있다. 전체가 붉은색이 돌고 신맛이 난다. 뿌리잎은 모여나며 창 모양, 길이 3~6cm, 폭 1~2cm이고, 잎자루가 길다. 줄기잎은 어긋나게 달리며, 피침형 또는 긴 타원형으로 아래쪽이 창 모양이다. 꽃은 5~6월에 암수딴포기에 피며, 붉은 녹색, 줄기 끝 원추꽃차례에 돌아가며 달린다. 열매는 수과, 타원형, 길이 1~1.6mm, 갈색이고, 6~7월에 익는데 능선이 3개 있다. 수영과 비슷하지만 전체가 작으며, 잎이 창 모양이어서 구분된다. 생태계를 교란하는 식물이다. 유럽 원산이며 우리나라 전역 및 전 세계에 귀화하여 분포한다.
