분류체계
산기슭이나 산속의 그늘진 곳에서 자라는 한해살이 또는 두해살이풀이다. 줄기는 곧게 자라며 높이 15~80cm, 위쪽에서 가지가 갈라지고 전체에 연한 털이 드문드문 있다. 뿌리잎은 모여나며, 꽃이 필 때 시들어 떨어진다. 줄기잎은 어긋나며 잎자루는 길이 2~6cm, 귀 모양으로 줄기를 감싼다. 잎몸은 깃꼴로 갈라지며, 갈래잎은 난상 타원형으로 밑부분은 쐐기 모양, 끝은 뾰족하고 가장자리는 둔한 톱니 모양이다. 꽃은 5~6월에 흰색으로 피며, 총상꽃차례를 이룬다. 꽃잎은 도피침형으로 길이 3~5mm이다. 수술은 6개, 이 중 4개가 길다. 열매는 각과, 길이 2~3cm, 폭 1mm쯤이고 위로 곧추서며, 7~8월에 익으면 2갈래로 터진다. 씨는 긴 타원형으로 길이 1.3mm쯤이다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 러시아, 일본, 중국, 아시아, 유럽, 북반구 온대 등에 분포한다. 기본종 싸리냉이에 비해 식물체에 털이 없는 종류를 섬싸리냉이, 열매에 털이 있는 종류를 개싸리냉이로 구분한다. 어린순은 식용하고 전초를 약용한다. 긴잎황새냉이, 싸리황새냉이라고도 부른다.
