분류체계
풍접초목 십자화과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 민가 주변 길가, 경작지 및 산지 숲 가장자리의 햇빛이 잘 드는 곳에 무리 지어 자라는 두해살이풀이다. 줄기는 곧추서며, 높이 20~60cm, 가지가 갈라지기도 하며, 전체에 털이 없다. 뿌리잎은 밑에서 모여나며, 사방으로 퍼지고, 도란형 또는 장타원형, 가장자리는 밋밋하다. 줄기잎은 어긋나며, 좁은 타원형 또는 피침형으로 길이 3~6cm, 폭 10~25mm, 밑부분은 화살 모양으로 줄기를 약간 감싸고, 가장자리에 불규칙한 톱니가 있다. 꽃은 5월에 피는데 흰색, 줄기 끝에 총상꽃차례로 달린다. 꽃받침잎은 4개, 장타원형으로 길이 2.0~2.5mm다. 꽃잎은 4개, 도란형으로 길이 3~5mm다. 수술은 6개, 이 중 4개가 길다. 암술은 1개다. 열매는 각과, 편평한 원형으로 길이 15mm쯤이며, 넓은 날개가 있고, 끝은 오목하다. 7~8월에 결실한다. 전체에 털이 없고 줄기에 능선이 있으므로 냉이와 구별된다. 어린순을 식용하며, 전초와 씨를 약용한다. 유럽 원산으로 우리나라 전역에 나며, 아시아, 아프리카, 아메리카 등 전 세계 온대지역에 널리 분포한다. 전통지식(문헌) 문헌명 전통지식(문헌)조사내용 번역문 용도 열람등급 향약집성방 맛은 맵고 성질은 약간 따뜻하며 독이 없다. 눈을 밝게 할 뿐 아니라 눈이 아프고 눈물이 저절로 나오는 것, 비증 등을 치료하고 오장을 보하며 정을 불리어 주고 명치 밑과 허리가 아픈 것도 낫게 한다. 장기간 먹으면 몸이 거뜬해지고 늙지 않는다. 일명 멸석, 대즙, 마신, 대제라고도 한다. 냇가나 못가, 길섶에서 자라며 음력 4∼5월에 씨를 받아 햇볕에서 말린다. 형실, 세신과 같이 쓰면 좋고 건강, 너삼과는 상오약이다. 석명자의 사약은 고삼이다. 간에 생긴 적취, 눈이 피지면서 붓는 것을 치료한다. 기타 내용은 채부 냉이조항에 썼다.
