귀룽나무 bookmark_add Prunus padus L.

장미목 장미과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 숲, 삼림의 가장자리, 경사지, 계곡이나 물가 주변 등에 자라는 낙엽 큰키나무다. 줄기는 높이 10~20m다. 잎은 어긋나며, 도란형 또는 타원형, 길이 6~12cm, 폭 3~6cm, 가장자리에 날카로운 톱니가 있다. 잎자루는 길이 1~2cm이며, 위쪽에 샘점이 있다. 꽃은 4~6월에 새 가지 끝의 총상꽃차례에 모여 달리며, 흰색, 지름 1.0~1.5cm다. 꽃차례는 길이 10~20cm이며, 20~30개의 꽃이 달리며, 아래쪽에는 잎이 달린다. 꽃자루는 길이 1cm쯤이며, 꽃대와 더불어 털이 난다. 열매는 핵과이며, 둥글고, 지름 6~8mm, 검게 익는다. 꽃과 잎은 변이가 많다. 이 종은 잎몸 뒷면에 선점이 없는 점에서 선점이 밀생하는 개벚지나무와 구별된다. 공원수로 심으며, 목재는 가구재, 조각재, 기구재, 공예용으로 이용한다. 어린가지는 약용하고, 어린순과 열매는 식용한다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 몽골, 중국, 일본, 러시아 동북부, 프랑스와 지중해 지역을 제외한 유럽 등에 분포한다.
