Echinopanax elatus Nakai
깊은 산 숲속에 나는 낙엽활엽관목으로 높이는 2~3m에 이른다. 줄기는 거의 갈라지지 않으며 황갈색이고 긴 가시가 밀생한다. 잎은 어긋나고 심장 모양의 원형으로 길이 15~30cm인 손바닥 모양의 홑잎인데 5~7가닥으로 얕게 갈라지며 가장자리에 톱니가 있다. 잎의 앞뒷면의 맥과 잎자루에 가시가 많이 나 있다. 6~8월에 연두색 꽃이 총상으로 갈라진 가지에 산형화서로 달린다. 열매는 핵과로 구형이며 8~9월에 빨갛게 익는다. 우리나라 지리산 이북에 나며 만주, 우수리에 분포한다. [저작재산권자]
