감자 bookmark_add Solanum tuberosum L.

가지목 가지과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 뿌리줄기 끝에 둥근 덩이줄기가 발달한다. 줄기는 곧추서며, 가지가 갈라지고, 높이 30~60cm이다. 잎은 어긋나며, 깃꼴겹잎으로 갈라져 잎줄기 끝에 커다란 잎이 하나 있고 그 아래에 작은잎이 3~4쌍 붙어 있다. 잎자루는 길이 3~5cm이다. 잎 양면은 털이 있다. 꽃은 5~8월에 가지 끝에 취산꽃차례로 달리고 지름 2~3cm이며, 흰색 또는 연한 보라색이다. 꽃받침은 종 모양으로 5갈래로 갈라진다. 꽃부리는 위쪽이 5갈래로 얕게 갈라지며, 갈래는 삼각형이다. 수술은 5개이며, 수술대는 짧다. 꽃밥은 길고 둥글며, 노란색이다. 열매는 장과이며, 둥글고 지름 1~2cm이며, 노란빛이 도는 녹색으로 7~8월에 익는다. 밭에서 식량 작물로 재배하는 여러해살이풀이다. 남아메리카 안데스 지역 원산으로 우리나라 전역, 전 세계에서 재배한다. 하지감자라고도 한다.
