Convolvulus sepium L.
저지대 풀밭이나 길가에 자라는 덩굴성 여러해살이풀이다. 전체에 털이 거의 없다. 땅속줄기는 옆으로 벋으면서 갈라진다. 줄기는 다른 물체에 감긴다. 잎은 어긋나며, 삼각상 난형 또는 삼각형으로 길이 4~8cm, 폭 3~7cm, 끝은 뾰족하고, 밑은 2갈래로 갈라지는 심장형이며, 가장자리는 밋밋하다. 잎자루는 길이 3~5cm이다. 꽃은 6~8월에 피는데 잎겨드랑이에서 나온 길이 4~6cm의 꽃대에 1개씩 달린다. 꽃받침잎은 5갈래로 갈라진다. 꽃부리는 깔때기 모양, 지름 4~5cm, 분홍색이다. 수술은 5개로 꽃부리보다 훨씬 짧다. 열매는 삭과, 9~10월에 익는다. 우리나라 경기도 이북에서 자라며, 전 세계 온대지역에 분포한다. 메꽃에 비해 잎은 삼각상 난형 또는 삼각형으로 보다 넓고, 끝은 뾰족하다. 뿌리를 식용, 약용한다. 넓은잎메꽃, 음양곽메꽃이라고도 한다.
