갯자원
국화목 국화과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 전체에 털이 없다. 줄기는 곧추서며, 위쪽에서 가지가 갈라지고, 높이 30~100cm다. 뿌리잎은 꽃이 필 때 마른다. 줄기잎은 어긋나며, 선상 피침형 또는 선형, 길이 6~10cm, 폭 0.6~1.2cm, 끝이 뾰족하고, 밑은 줄기를 반쯤 감싸며 가장자리는 밋밋하다. 꽃은 9~10월에 가지 끝에서 머리모양꽃이 모여서 산방꽃차례로 달리며, 푸른빛이 도는 자주색이다. 머리모양꽃은 지름 1.6~2.2cm다. 관모양꽃은 노란색이다. 모인꽃싸개는 통 모양, 길이 약 7mm, 끝이 둔한 피침형의 조각이 3줄로 붙는다. 열매는 수과, 납작하고 긴 타원형, 털이 있다. 우산털은 꽃이 진 다음 더 자라 길이 15mm쯤 되고, 흰색이다. 바닷가 습지에 자라는 한해살이풀이다. 비짜루국화에 비해 머리모양꽃은 지름 1.6~2.2cm로서 크며, 혀모양꽃은 푸른빛이 도는 자주색이고, 열매는 납작하므로 구분된다. 우리나라 서해안과 남해안 지역에 나며, 아시아, 아프리카, 유럽 등지에 분포한다.
