Fritillaria thunbergii Miq.
중국 원산이며 약용 또는 관상용으로 재배하는 여러해살이풀이다. 키는 30~80cm이다. 비늘줄기는 둥근 모양이고 지름 1.5~3.0cm이며, 비늘조각은 2개로 다육질이다. 잎은 2~3장씩 돌려나고 선상 피침형, 잎자루는 없고, 길이 7~15cm, 너비 5~10mm이며 뒷면에는 흰빛이 돈다. 포와 윗부분의 잎은 더 길어지고 안으로 말려서 덩굴손 모양이다. 꽃은 3~5월에 피는데 연한 노란색이고 희미한 그물 무늬가 있으며, 꽃줄기 끝에 1~4송이가 밑을 향해 핀다. 꽃자루의 길이는 1~2cm이다. 화피는 길이 2.5~3.0cm이고 밑에 선체가 있다. 수술은 6개이고 화피보다 짧다. 암술머리는 3갈래이다. 열매는 삭과이고 짧은 육각형이며 날개는 6개이다. 우리나라 각지 및 북반부 온대에서 재배하며, 중국에 분포한다. 북한 지역에 자라는 패모는 화피가 보라색이고 비늘줄기의 포가 5 또는 6장인 것에 비해 이 종은 화피가 연한 노란색이고, 비늘줄기의 포가 2장인 점에서 구분된다. 약용 또는 관상용으로 식재한다.
