Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop.
Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop.
사초목 벼과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 줄기는 옆으로 기면서 마디에서 뿌리가 나오고 가지가 갈라진다. 높이는 40~70cm이다. 잎집은 옆으로 퍼진 털이 성기게 난다. 잎몸은 길이 5~15cm이고, 너비 5~10mm이다. 잎혀는 막질이고, 길이 1~3mm이고 끝은 둔하다. 꽃은 7~10월에 핀다. 전체 꽃차례는 3~8개의 가지가 끝에 모여 달리며, 작은이삭이 가지에 돌려난다. 작은이삭이 달리는 축은 납작하고 날개가 있으며, 가장자리가 거칠다. 작은이삭은 길이 2.5~3.5mm로 꽃이 두 개 들어 있다. 제1포영은 삼각형으로 길이 0.2~0.5mm이고, 제2포영은 피침형으로 1.0~2.4mm이며 긴 털이 있다. 호영은 길이 2.5~3.5mm이고, 피침형이며, 7개의 맥이 있다. 첫 번째 꽃은 불염성이며, 두 번째 꽃은 임성이다. 길가와 경작지 및 빈터에 자라는 한해살이풀이다. 좀바랭이에 비해서 식물체가 전체적으로 크고, 잎집에 털이 있으며, 전체 꽃차례에 있는 날개의 가장자리가 거칠므로 구별된다. 바랑이라고도 부른다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 세계적으로 구대륙의 온대와 아열대 지역에 분포한다.
