Fagopyrum perfoliatum Raf.
Polygonum perfoliatum (L.) L.
숲 가장자리, 들판, 빈터 등에 흔하게 자라는 덩굴성 한해살이풀이다. 줄기는 길이 2m 정도 뻗으며 잎자루와 더불어 밑으로 난 가시가 있어 다른 물체를 걸고 올라가며 자란다. 잎은 어긋나고 삼각형이다. 잎끝은 뾰족하며 밑부분이 자른 모양 또는 얕은 심장 모양이고 길이 3~6cm, 너비 3~8cm이다. 잎 가장자리는 물결 모양이며 표면은 녹색이고 뒷면은 흰빛이 돌며 잎맥 위에 거슬러 난 잔 가시가 많다. 꽃은 7~9월에 피며 줄기와 가지 꼭대기나 잎겨드랑이의 짧은 이삭꽃차례에 달린다. 꽃차례는 길이 1~2cm로서 밑부분을 접시 같이 생긴 잎 모양의 꽃싸개가 받치고 있다. 꽃받침은 연한 녹색이 돌며 5개로 갈라지고 꽃잎은 없다. 열매는 수과로 난상 구형이며 약간 세모가 지고 흑색이며 윤채가 있다. 8~9월에 익는다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 중국, 일본, 동남아, 러시아 극동부 등지에 분포한다. 어린잎은 식용하며, 성숙한 잎은 약용한다. 사광이풀, 참가시덩굴여뀌이라고도 부른다.
