Acer pictum var. truncatum (Bunge) C. S. Chang
산지의 숲속에 자라는 낙엽 활엽 작은큰키나무로 높이 8m에 이른다. 잎은 마주나기로 달리고, 손바닥 모양 5갈래로 깊게 갈린다. 각 갈래는 끝이 뾰족하고, 결각이 있으며, 길이 5~11cm, 너비 6~12cm, 양 면에 털이 없다. 꽃은 5월에 피는데 연한 노란색, 지름 1cm가량, 15개 이상이 취산꽃차례로 달린다. 꽃자루는 길이 1~2cm이다. 열매는 시과, 10월에 결실한다. 두 날개 사이의 각도는 거의 직각이고, 표면에 털이 없다. 우리나라 경기, 강원, 북부지방에 나며, 중국 북동부 등에 분포한다. 만주고로쇠는 고로쇠나무에 비해 나무껍질이 찢어지는 형태를 갖는 경향이 있으나 고로쇠나무와 동일종으로 보는 견해가 있다. 관상용으로 심고, 약용한다. 만주고로쇠나무라고도 한다.
