(북한명) 참거마리
턱거머리목 거머리과에 속하는 민물 환형동물로 몸길이는 4-6cm이다. 몸은 길쭉하며 보통 갈색이다. 등에 5개의 밝은 세로줄이 몸 전체에 뻗어 있다. 턱이 발달해 있으며 흡혈성이다. 흡반을 이용하여 달라붙으며 열 또는 피 냄새를 잘 감지한다. 한강, 낙동강 등 우리나라 전역에 서식하지만, 현재는 멸종에 가까울 정도로 희소해졌다. 하천, 논 등지에는 보기 힘들며 산골짜기 저수지에서나 간혹 볼 수 있다. 세계적으로는 일본, 중국 등에 분포한다. [저작재산권자]
