Potamogeton malaianus Miq.
흐르는 물에 자라는 침수성 여러해살이풀이다. 잎은 보통 어긋나지만 꽃차례 아래에 있는 잎은 마주나며, 잎자루가 있다. 잎몸은 넓은 선형으로 길이 9~14cm, 폭 2cm가량이다. 잎 끝은 갑자기 뾰족해지며, 잎맥은 17~25개다. 턱잎은 길이 약 3mm, 끝은 둥글다. 꽃은 7~8월에 길이 3~5cm의 이삭꽃차례에 달린다. 열매는 길이 2mm, 폭 1mm, 부리는 길이 0.5mm이다. 우리나라 전역에 자생한다. 러시아, 몽골, 인도, 인도네시아, 일본, 중국에 분포한다. 중금속 제거 기능이 있으므로 수질정화용으로 이용할 수 있다.
