Charybdis (Charybdis) japonica (A. Milne-Edwards, 1861) (민꽃게)
성체의 갑각은 육각형이고 너비가 길이의 1.4배보다 더 길다. 등면은 조금 볼록하고 짧은 강모로 덮여 있다. 이마에는 6개의 이가 있는데 가운데 것이 좌우의 것들보다 조금 더 길다. 이마~눈구역 가장자리는 갑각 너비의 1/2보다 작다. 앞위구역, 가운데위구역, 뒤위구역과 앞아가미구역 융기는 뚜렷하고 이마구역과 심장구역의 융기는 뚜렷하지 않다. 앞옆가장자리에는 눈구역 이 뒤로 5개의 삼각형 이가 있고 마지막 것이 가장 작다. 제2촉각의 채찍은 눈구역에 포함되지 않는다. 집게다리는 비교적 튼튼하고 비대칭이며 왼쪽 것이 오른쪽 것보다 조금 더 크다. 긴마디에는 3~4개의 날카로운 가시가 있고 앞가장자리 앞쪽에는 4개의 돌기가 있다. 발목마디의 안쪽가장자리 끝에는 1개의 뾰족한 가시가 있고 바깥가장자리 거의 끝에는 3개의 짧은 가시가 있다. 손가락의 자르는 면에는 4~5개의 큰 이를 포함해 12~13개의 이가 불규칙하게 있다. 조간대에서 수심 10m 사이의 이질(泥質), 사질 또는 바위 아래에 산다. 한국(함북, 함남, 강원, 경북, 경남, 전남, 제주, 전북, 충남, 경기), 하와이, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 대만, 중국, 일본 등에 분포한다.
