Mya (Arenomya) arenaria Linnaeus, 1758 (우럭)
우럭목 우럭과에 속하는 해산 연체동물이다. 우럭조개로도 불린다. 패각은 길쭉한 계란형이며 얇다. 회백색에 연한 황갈색 껍질이 덮여 있으며, 아래로 갈수록 진한 갈색을 띤다. 패각의 안쪽 면은 백색이고 외투선은 깊게 만입된다. 왼쪽 패각의 정수리 부분에 넓고 끝이 둥글게 돌출된 석회질의 숟가락 모양 돌출부(탄대받이)가 있다. 몸의 수관은 합쳐져 있고 크고 길며 단단한 가죽질의 껍질로 싸여 있다. 전 세계적으로 식용으로 널리 이용되는 종인데 우리나라에서는 최근 개체수가 감소하는 추세이다. [저작재산권자]

전형적인 서식처는 하천이 유입되는 하구의 모래펄 지역이다. 보통 20~30cm 정도 펄 속에 파고 들어가 있으며 신축성이 뛰어난 수관 끝을 밖으로 내놓고 먹이활동을 한다. [1]
