까치수영
볕이 잘 드는 숲 가장자리나 들판에 자라는 여러해살이풀이다. 줄기, 잎, 꽃자루에 털이 많다. 땅속줄기는 퍼져 뻗는다. 줄기는 높이 50~100cm, 붉은빛이 도는 원기둥 모양이며 가지를 친다. 잎은 어긋나며, 길이 3~10cm, 폭 1~2cm, 빽빽이 달리며 긴 타원형이다. 잎 가장자리는 밋밋하고 차츰 좁아져서 잎밑이 잎자루처럼 된다. 꽃은 6~8월에 줄기 끝의 꼬리처럼 굽은 총상꽃차례에 한쪽으로 치우쳐서 흰색으로 피며, 지름 7~12mm이다. 작은꽃자루는 길이 4∼7mm이며 꽃싸개잎은 선형이다. 꽃차례는 길이 10~20cm, 꽃이 필 때 기울어지지만 나중에 곧추선다. 열매는 삭과, 둥글고, 붉은 갈색으로 9월에 익는다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 러시아, 일본, 중국 등에 분포한다. 이 종은 큰까치수염에 비해 잎이 선상 장타원형으로 잎끝이 둔하고 전체에 잔털이 많으므로 구별된다. 까치수영, 개꼬리풀이라고도 부른다. 꽃이 아름다우므로 관상 가치가 높다. 어린잎은 식용한다.
