애기뿔쇠똥구리
딱정벌레목 소똥구리과에 속하는 곤충이다. 몸은 길이 13~19mm, 폭 6.9~11.5mm이다. 몸 색깔은 광택이 강한 흑색이다. 수컷은 이마에 상아 모양의 뿔이 있다. 딱지날개에는 가는 세로 홈이 있다. 넓은 부채꼴 모양의 머리방패는 앞쪽 점각이 훨씬 뚜렷하고 이마의 뿔이 작다. 앞가슴등판은 파임과 돌기들이 훨씬 뚜렷하며 가운데는 깊고 넓은 세로홈이 있다. 돌기부 주변과 세로홈 안에는 크고 거친 점각이 흩어져 있고 기부 근처인 뒤쪽 가장자리는 약간 작은 점각이 매우 조밀하게 분포한다. 앞다리 종아리마디 외치는 4개이다. 성충은 4~10월에 관찰된다. 소똥이나 말똥 밑에 굴을 파고 그 속에 똥을 가져가 먹거나 둥근 모양의 경단을 만들어 알을 낳는다. 유충의 날개가 돋으면 암컷은 집을 떠난다. 평지나 야산의 풀밭에서 생활한다. 우리나라 전역에 서식하며, 세계적으로 일본, 중국, 타이완 등지에 분포한다. 꼬마뿔풍뎅이라고도 한다. 국내에서는 전국적 분포를 보이는데, 내륙보다 남서해안 도서 지방에서 더 많이 관찰된다. 강원도, 인천광역시, 전라남도 및 제주도에서 발견되었다. [2]

성충은 4~10월에 관찰되며 한여름 이전에 주로 활동한다. 소똥이나 말똥 밑에 굴을 파고 그 속에 똥을 가져가 먹거나 둥근 모양의 경단을 만들어 알을 낳는다. 유충이 날개를 돋으면 암컷은 집을 떠난다. 평지나 야산의 풀밭에서 생활한다. [2]
