Falco migrans Boddaert, 1783
매목 수리과에 속하는 조류이다. 몸길이는 58.5~68.5cm이다. 암컷이 조금 더 크다. 몸은 전체적으로 적갈색을 띠며, 밝은 갈색의 세로줄 무늬가 있다. 날 때 날개 아랫면의 중앙에 흰색 점이 있고 꼬리 중앙부가 제비꼬리처럼 안쪽으로 약간 패여 있으나, 꼬리를 펼칠 경우 꼬리 끝이 직선처럼 보이기도 한다. 겨울철새지만 가끔 텃새화하기도 한다. 산림지역, 도서지역, 해안가, 시가지 등의 숲속 나무 위에 나뭇가지로 접시 모양의 둥지를 만든다. 알은 2~3개를 낳으며, 곤충을 비롯한 무척추동물, 죽은 동물, 소형 포유류, 어류 등을 주로 먹는다. 남해와 서해 도서 및 철원에서 발견되며 일본, 중국, 티베트, 히말라야에도 분포한다. 해외에는 극지와 사막을 제외한 세계 각국에 분포하며, 일본, 중국, 티베트, 히말라야가 대표적이다. [2]
국내에는 남해안 도서 지역을 중심으로 많은 개체 수가 보고되었고, 서해안 도서 지역 및 독도, 천수만, 철원평야 등지에서도 적은 개체 수가 관찰되었다. [2]

해안, 도서 지역, 호반에 인접한 산림의 교목 위 또는 절벽 등지에 둥지를 마련한다. 관목 가지를 이용해 접시 모양의 둥지를 틀며, 산란기에는 동물의 털, 실, 헝겊 등을 주워 깔기도 한다. 산란기는 3월 중순에서 5월 중순까지이고, 한배에 알을 2~3개 낳으며, 포란 후 30~34일이 지나면 부화한다. 쥐, 소형 조류, 양서파충류, 곤충, 버려진 고기, 생선 등을 먹는다. [2]
