생물종 상세정보
유린목 장지뱀과에 속하는 파충류이다. 전체 길이는 6~10cm 정도이다. 등면은 대부분 황갈색이며, 가장자리가 암갈색 또는 흑갈색이고 내부가 백색인 작은 반점이 온몸에 산재해 있다. 몸통의 등면과 측면의 비늘은 모두 작은 알갱이의 형태이다. 배면은 보통 백색 또는 회백색이며, 특별한 무늬가 없다. 다른 장지뱀류에 비하여 상대적으로 머리가 크고, 꼬리의 길이는 짧다. 사구의 초지에 살며 주로 서·남해의 해안과 섬에 발달한 사구의 초지에서 서식하는데, 내륙의 경우, 큰 하천의 충적토나 제방의 초지, 산림지역에 마사토가 풍부한 나지와 무덤 주변에서도 드물게 관찰된다. 무더운 낮과 추운 밤에는 초지의 모래를 파고들어 가거나 돌, 고목 아래에 들어가 휴식한다. 주로 오전과 오후에 나와 육상에서 움직이는 거미류와 곤충류를 잡아먹는다. 서해안, 강원도, 경기도, 경상도, 충청도의 일부 지역에 서식하고 세계적으로는 중국, 러시아, 몽골에 분포한다. 주로 서·남해의 해안과 섬에 발달한 사구의 초지에서 서식하는데, 내륙의 경우, 큰 하천의 충적토나 제방의 초지, 산림지역에 마사토가 풍부한 나지와 무덤 주변에서도 드물게 관찰된다. 무더운 낮과 추운 밤에는 초지의 모래를 파고들어 가거나 돌, 고목 아래에 들어가 휴식한다. 주로 오전과 오후에 나와 육상에서 움직이는 거미류와 곤충류를 잡아먹는다. 암컷은 6월부터 7월까지 20~60cm 정도의 땅속에 3~6개의 알을 산란한다. 산란은 보통 2~3회에 걸쳐 하며, 산란한 알은 40~50일 정도면 부화한다. [2]
