Orchis conopsea L.
손바닥난초는 난초과의 여러해살이풀로 2017년에 「멸종위기 야생생물 Ⅱ급」으로 신규 지정된 식물이다. 높은 산 양지바른 풀밭에서 여러해살이 난초로 손바닥 모양으로 된 뿌리와 노끈 모양으로 된 수염뿌리가 여러 개 있다. ‘뿌리난초’, ‘손뿌리난초’, ‘손바닥란’이라고도 한다. 관상용으로 이용되고 수장삼으로 불리며 약으로도 이용한다. 현재 한국적색목록에 멸종위기범주인 취약종(VU)으로 평가되어 있다. [저작재산권자]

전 세계적으로 일본, 몽골, 중국, 러시아 아무르, 시베리아, 우수리, 사할린, 캄차카, 유럽 등지에 분포한다. [1]
국내에서는 제주도 한라산, 경상북도 울릉군, 경상남도 지리산 등에 분포한다. [1]
