Puffinus carneipes Gould, 1844 (붉은발슴새)
우리나라에서는 봄에 북상할 때 동해 연안을 거쳐 가는 희귀한 나그네새이다. 전체 길이 50cm 정도이며 날개를 편 길이는 1m 정도이다. 몸은 전체적으로 검은색이고, 부리는 끝이 검은색이고 기부는 담황색, 발은 살구색이다. 번식기에는 섬이나 해안의 해상에 서식하며, 비번식기에는 멀리 떨어진 해안에서 서식한다. 집단 번식하며 섬의 땅속에 구멍을 파서 알을 1개 낳는다. 오스트레일리아와 뉴질랜드에서 번식한다. 북태평양, 브리티시 컬럼비아에서 여름을 보낸다. [저작재산권자]
