Otis tarda Linnaeus, 1758 (느시)
느시는 「멸종위기 야생생물 Ⅱ급」의 느시과 조류로 매우 드문 겨울철새이다. 몸은 전체적으로 황갈색이고 가슴에 적갈색의 띠가 있다. 긴 목과 다리, 통통하고 큰 체형으로 쉽게 구별된다. 평야, 구릉지, 초원 등에 서식하며, 농경지에서도 서식한다. 5~6월 산란하며, 일부다처제로 생활한다. 과거에는 흔한 겨울철새였으나 불법사냥, 농약사용 등 잇단 개발로 위협받고 있다. 현재 한국적색목록에 멸종위기범주로 평가되어 있다. [저작재산권자]

해외에는 모로코, 독일, 헝가리, 시베리아, 중국 동북부까지 분포한다. [1]
국내에는 과거에 흔한 겨울철새로 100개체 이상이 도래한 기록도 있지만 거의 관찰되지 않다가 2001년 철원과 최근 2017년 1월 여주에서 관찰한 기록이 있다. [1]

광활한 평야, 건조한 구릉의 초지, 초원 등지에 서식하며, 유럽에서는 주로 온대의 건조한 황토지대에 서식했고, 근래에는 농경지와 목초지에서도 서식한다. 번식기에는 수컷들끼리 모여서 과시행동을 하며, 일부다처제로 평원에서 번식한다. 둥지는 땅 위에 오목하게 파고 만들며, 산란기는 5~6월, 한번에 3~4개의 알을 낳는다. 알은 연한 녹색 또는 황록색 바탕에 어두운 갈색 얼룩무늬와 갈색빛을 띤 회색 얼룩점이 산재하거나 모여 있다. 일부다처제로 생활하며 암컷이 단독으로 알을 품는다. [1]
