우리나라에서는 보기 드문 미조이다. 날개 길이 8.6cm, 꼬리 길이 6.5cm 정도이다. 수컷은 머리와 목, 등, 가슴이 검은색이고, 이마와 눈 부근은 회색이다. 배와 허리, 꼬리덮깃은 붉은빛 갈색이다. 암컷은 대체로 갈색이고, 목과 아랫배는 회색이다. 습성은 딱새와 비슷하다. 한국, 몽골(남부), 중국(북부), 티베트, 인도, 미얀마 등지에 분포한다. [저작재산권자]
