진홍나팔돌산호
금빛나팔돌산호는 「멸종위기 야생생물 Ⅱ급」으로 지정된 나무돌산호과의 자포동물이다. 군체는 나무 모양을 하고 있으며 주홍색을 띤다. 물이 맑고 따뜻한 암초의 단애면에 서식하며 우리나라 제주도 해역에 분포한다. 무단 채취 등으로 멸종위기에 처해있는 국제적 보호종이다. [저작재산권자]

해외에는 일본의 사가미만 이남, 서대서양~인도·태평양의 열대 수역에 분포한다. [1]

나무 모양의 군체로서 수심 5~20m 암반에 부착한다. 물이 맑고 따뜻하며 흐름이 빠른 외해로 면한 암초의 단애면에 서식한다. 성장 속도나 확산 속도가 매우 느리며 총산호류와 함께 군생하는 경우가 많다. 내·외부 공생 종이 많아 생태계에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. [1]
