분류체계
석곡은 난초과 상록성 여러해살이풀로 「멸종위기 야생생물 Ⅱ급」 식물이다. 바위나 나무에 붙어사는 착생식물로, 우리나라 제주도와 전라도 일대에 자생한다. 잎은 2~3년 살며, 잎이 떨어진 다음 3년째에 흰색 또는 연한 분홍색 꽃이 핀다. 현재 한국적색목록에 멸종위기범주인 위기종(EN)으로 평가되어 있다. [저작재산권자]

국내에서는 제주도와 전라남도 해안 지역 및 섬 지역 일대에 분포하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 최근 조사를 통해 경상남도와 전라북도 일부 지역에서 확인된 기록이 있다. [1]

전통지식(문헌) 문헌명 전통지식(문헌)조사내용 번역문 용도 열람등급 향약집성방 맛은 달고 성질은 평하며 독이 없다. 비위가 상한 것과 비증을 치료하고 기를 내리며 오장의 허로와 몸이 여윈 것을 보하고 성욕을 세게 하며 정을 불려 준다. 비위의 기가 부족한 것도 보하고 위기를 고르게 하여 살찌게도 한다. 또 피부에 사열이 몰린 것을 없애고 땀띠, 다리와 무릎이 아픈 것, 냉비로 약해진 것 등도 치료한다. 장기간 먹으면 장위가 든든해지고 몸이 거뜬하며 오래 산다. 또한 의지가 굳세지고 잘 놀래는 것도 낫는다. 일명 임란, 금생, 두란, 석수라고도 한다. 산골짜기나 강기슭의 돌짬에서 자라며 음력 7∼8월에 줄기를 베어 그늘에서 말린다. 백강잠과는 상외약이다. 주약으로 쓰인다. 기를 보하고 열을 없앤다. 남자가 허리나 다리가 약해진 것을 치료하고 양기를 세게 한다. 풍으로 피부나 살이 저린 것과 뼈가 장기간 아픈 것, 허손증 등도 치료하고 신을 보하며 정을 불려 준다. 또한 요통을 멈추고 신기를 도와주며 기력을 세게 한다.
