분류체계
고도가 낮은 지역의 햇빛이 잘 드는 풀밭에 흔하게 자라는 여러해살이풀로 높이는 30~100cm이다. 전체에 털 있다. 잎은 어긋나고, 5~7개의 작은잎으로 이루어진 깃꼴겹잎이며, 밑부분의 작은잎은 점차 작아진다. 꽃은 6~8월에 황색으로 피는데 원줄기 끝과 가지 끝의 총상꽃차례에 달리고, 길이 10~20cm이다. 꽃받침통은 길이 3mm, 세로로 파진 줄이 있으며 윗부분이 5개로 갈라지고 그 밑에 갈고리 같은 털 있다. 성숙하면 다른 물체에 잘 붙는다. 꽃잎은 도란형, 길이 3~6mm이다. 수술은 12개이다. 열매는 수과이며 꽃받침에 싸여 있다. 8~9월에 익으며 갈고리 같은 가시들이 있어서 다른 물체에 잘 들러붙는다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 러시아 동부, 몽골, 유럽, 일본 오키나와, 중국 동북부 등에 분포한다. 이 종은 턱잎 낫 모양으로 줄기를 대개 감싸지 않는 데 비해 산짚신나물은 반원형 또는 부채모양으로 줄기를 감싸므로 구별된다. 또한 꽃은 총상꽃차례에 빽빽이 붙으므로 꽃이 다소 엉성하게 붙는 산짚신나물과 구별된다. 어린잎은 식용하며, 뿌리와 줄기를 약용한다.
