Prenanthes dentata Thunb.
국화목 국화과에 속하는 관속식물이다. 줄기는 곧추서며, 위쪽에서 가지가 갈라지며, 높이 20~50cm다. 뿌리잎은 도피침상 긴 타원형, 끝이 뾰족하고, 밑이 좁아져서 잎자루로 조금 흐르지만 잎자루는 길어서 뚜렷하다. 줄기잎은 2~3장이며, 피침형, 길이 3~10cm, 폭 1~3cm, 밑이 귓불처럼 되어 줄기를 감싼다. 꽃은 5~7월에 머리모양꽃차례 몇 개가 모여서 피며, 노란색이다. 머리모양꽃은 지름 1.5~2.0cm이며, 꽃이 8~11개 붙어 있다. 모인꽃싸개는 길이 1cm쯤이다. 열매는 수과이며, 길이 3~5mm, 9~10월에 익는다. 해발고도가 낮고 햇볕이 잘 드는 산지와 들판에서 자라는 여러해살이풀이다. 선씀바귀에 비해서 줄기에 난 잎은 밑이 귓불 모양으로 되어 줄기를 감싸며, 머리모양꽃에 붙는 꽃은 8~11개로 적으므로 구분된다. 어린잎과 뿌리를 식용한다. 우리나라 전역에 나며, 중국, 일본, 러시아 등에 분포한다.
